Counting the Uninsured by Reference Period

The number of people counted as "uninsured" varies. Was the individual uninsured at a point in time, for the entire year, or at any point during the year? Not surprisingly, more people are uninsured at least once during the year than at a point in time and fewer people are uninsured throughout the year. ERIU tables provide counts for all three time horizons across multiple datasets – a unique approach.
